For the next six weeks, 30 Diocese of Scranton priests are fighting hunger by cooking and Father Beck is one of them!

The following is a traditional prayer of spiritual communion that many saints have prayed over the years. It can be prayed if you find yourself at Mass unable to receive the Eucharist.

As directed by the Diocese of Scranton, there are to be no Parish Easter basket blessings on the premises of The Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Peace & St. Veronica, Hawley, PA. Parishioners are encouraged to bless their food and use the following prayers.

As families are homebound, communities are coming together to make a positive impact. Driveways and sidewalks are being covered in chalk, spreading messages of positivity, thanking hospital staff and first responders, and encouraging others to stay home. Now it has been spotted at the Parish.

Diocese of Scranton Coronavirus Updated their website on March 23, 2020 for the most recent guidance regarding the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and steps we can take to help prevent its spread.

Pope Francis has invited Christians around the world to respond to the coronavirus pandemic by joining him at the same time in praying the Lord’s Prayer at 7 a.m. Eastern time (noon in Rome) on Wednesday, March 25, the solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord.

Effective immediately, and until further notice, the Bishop has suspended the celebration of Masses open to the public and all public gatherings in all diocesan parishes, worship sites, college campuses, chapels and health care facilities in the eleven counties of the Diocese of Scranton.

According to the Code of Canon Law, blessed items are not to be discarded in a trash can, but treated with respect (cf. #1171).

Effective immediately, and until further notice, Bishop Joseph C. Bambera, in union with the Bishops of Pennsylvania, has dispensed the faithful of the Diocese of Scranton from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass.

Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace and most Catholic parishes in the Diocese of Scranton will be open on Lenten Mondays from 5:30-7:00pm.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS, commemorating the passion and death of Jesus Christ, will be prayed at both Churches.

If you would like to remember a loved one, please place your name, your contribution and the name(s) of your loved one(s) on the “Easter Flower Offering” envelope that can be found at the entrances of the churches.

February 26, 2020 will mark the start of the solemn40-day season of Lent. Parishes throughout the 11 county Diocese of Scranton will distribute Ashes as a sign of penance and to remind individuals of their mortality.
