"For the Good of the Whole"
Confirmation is the last of three Sacraments of Initiation, the other two being Baptism and Holy Communion. The faithful are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and are strengthened in their Christian Life. He or she as a sponsor to help them on their journey to receive the Sacrament and after, for guidance.
Recall then that you have received the spirtual seal, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding and courage, the spirit of right judgement and courage, the spirit of knowledge and reverence, the Spirit of holy fear in God's presence. Live the gift of the Sacrament that you have received.
Confirmation is administrered by the laying-on of hands and anointing with Chrism accompanied by prayer. The Chrism is blessed by the bishop and the bishop is the usual administer of the sacrament, however, in some instances, for pastoral reasons, priests are allowed to administer the sacrament. Baptized persons need to take the vow of this sacrament in order to continue their journey of faith in preparation for eternal life.
Confirmation takes place at different ages and throughout adulthood as an adult candidate through RCIA. In our Parish, the sacrament of Confimation takes place in between 8th and 9th grade in the youth faith formation program.
